Bible Origins and History

Origins of the Old Testament

Origins of the New Testament

Critical Text (CT) and Textus Receptus (TR)

  • New Testament Manuscripts and Versions (CT)
  • The Textus Receptus - (TR) Info about the history and manuscripts used
  • Manuscript Comaparisons TR-MT-CT (PDF - Widescreen Format)

The 'Manuscript Comparisons' table linked above compares the TR (King James) to other Majority Texts and to CT (Modern Translations) texts for 81 verses which represent the majority of manuscript-based differences. Note that very significant differences between KJV and modern versions are due to translation choices rather than manuscript variations, but this table shows verses and phrases 'missing' from modern Bibles along with notes pertaining to the reasons for the differences.
